BIG announces booming business

ONE of Scotland’s best-known PR agencies has announced that this year has seen business boom for one of its offices.

Says The BIG Partnership, its Aberdeen offices has secured more than £350,000 of new business in recent months and created six new jobs, bringing the total number of employees locally to 20.

The new business wins include Amor Group, Brewin Dolphin, Centrica Energy, The Grandhome Trust, Maritime Research Institute, PA Resources, PNE Wind and Zenith Oilfield Technology, as well as a raft of high-profile event management projects, including the launch of the new Glasgow 2014 brand and an inaugural skills event for the oil and gas industry in Abu Dhabi.

Says BIG director Zoe Corsi: “These contract wins, added to growth in other offices, means we are on track to grow fee income to more than £7 million in 2010, despite the challenging economic climate. In Aberdeen, there are strong signs of activity picking up, particularly in the oil and gas and renewables sectors where demand for our services is increasing, both in traditional and digital PR activity and in the arena of stakeholder engagement.

“Our focus on international work is also paying dividends, with both PR and event management contracts in Houston, Abu Dhabi and Azerbaijan.”

The new staff include senior account manager Gayle Nicol who joins BIG from IBP Communications in Manchester. A former journalist, Gayle has seven years’ PR experience.

Karen Grant, who joined BIG on a temporary contract last year, has been appointed as a permanent account manager. An experienced reporter with the Evening Express and the Press and Journal newspapers, Karen worked with two other PR agencies in Aberdeen before joining BIG.

Andrew Moir joins the team as a senior account executive, having spent nine years with the Evening Express.

Recent graduates Blair Grant and Stephen Murray, along with Tracey Miller who was previously an experienced technical writer with Shell, have been appointed to account executive roles.

Handling communications for over 200 UK organisations, The BIG Partnership is a privately-owned company with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Fife.
