Denki Plays to Millions

A Dundee-based games developer has had nine of its games bought, to appear on a satellite TV station with more than 16 million subscribers in the USA alone.

Denki has struck a deal with TV station, DIRECTV, to have its games appear on its Games Lounge channel. DIRECTV also boasts 1.5 million subscribers in Latin America. As it is, Denki games can already be played on Sky TV.

Game Lounge consists of several different categories, including puzzle, word, card, educational and arcade-style games, played on the TV screen using a remote control. It launched in February.

Customers access Game Lounge via either an all-access monthly subscription or on a play-per-day basis. The all-access monthly subscription price of Game Lounge is $5.95 per month, the play-per-day price is $1.95.

In total, Denki has published more than 50 Digital Interactive TV (DiTV) titles in the past five years.
