British Sea Power to perform at Edinburgh film fest

MUSIC video has long been a key element of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, certainly since its ‘Mirrorball’ section started up 12 years ago.

And this year’s festival is to welcome the band, British Sea Power, to kick off this year’s Mirrorball, with a live performance. It coincides with the festival creating a new award: The Mirrorball Award for Best British Music Video.

The performance takes place on June 19, as the festival embarks on its first year at a new time of the year – previously, the festival took place in August, alongside the Edinburgh International and Fringe festivals.

Tickets for the gig go on sale a week tomorrow.

‘A Trip Out with British Sea Power’ at Edinburgh venue, The Caves, will see the band not only playing their music, but divulging the visual ideas behind it. Two of the band members are film school graduates, as well as musicians, and will host a screening of their selected screen work, followed by a Q&A session.
