Smith to join Scottish News of the World

A FORMER chief reporter at the Daily Record is to join the Scottish News of the World, as a columnist.

Anna Smith is moving from the Sunday Mirror, where she has a column.

A novellist also – she has a third book pending, following the publication of ‘Spit against the wind’ and ‘The homecoming’ – she starts on the 22nd of next month.

An award-winning journalist, she has reported the Dunblane Massacre, and from Kosovo, Belfast and New York, in the wake of 9/11.

Says Bob Bird, News of the World Scottish editor: “Anna is a fearless, entertaining and controversial columnist.

“Her must-read opinions will provide a strong Scottish female voice for the paper and talk to our readers on subjects that really matter to them in Scotland.

“It’s a tremendous boost for the Scottish News of the World and I’m looking forward to working with her.”
