Daily, hour-long magazine show being launched by STV

STV is to replace its 30-minute early evening magazine show with a programme double in length.

Starting Tuesday, The Hour is being hosted – like the current, the five thirty show – by Stephen Jardine.

It begins at 5pm.

Joining Jardine will be Scottish Sun columnist, Martel Maxwell. With a law degree and post-graduate diploma from Edinburgh and Dundee universities, she is being billed as The Hour’s ‘consumer champ’.

Other regulars will include chefs, Tom Kitchin and Sue Lawrence, and film reviewer, Grant Lauchlan.

Says Jardine: “This is one of the biggest and most exciting TV shows ever to be launched in Scotland and I’m delighted to be part of it.

“We have lots of fantastic features and brilliant guests lined up from the very beginning. The Hour will be a celebration of life in modern Scotland, and we’ll provide great entertainment and relaxation at the end of a busy day. I can’t wait for the first show.”

Continued Bobby Hain, STV’s director of Broadcast Services and Regulatory Affairs: “The Hour is a great example of how we are taking control of our schedule to show more home-grown, high-quality content which we know our viewers enjoy.”
