Trial and Error

For newly-qualified lawyers, the labyrinthine corridors of Scotland’s courts must present a navigational challenge. And yesterday’s Scotsman newspaper slightly lost its bearings too. In its page two article about a schism within The Law Society of Scotland, the paper reports: ‘Bar associations will meet over the next few days whether to call off sex cases, which would have created a massive backlog of trails in Scotland’s courts and was condemned by Jack McConnell as “shocking and disgraceful”.’
