Record loses crown as top-selling daily newspaper

AS widely predicted before the weekend and extensively reported these last couple of days, the Daily Record has finally lost its crown as Scotland’s top-selling daily newspaper to the Scottish edition of The Sun, with the Kinning Park-based paper having registered an average 393,953 sales last month as opposed to the Record’s 384,378.

Yesterday, the Sunday Herald newspaper reported that the Record had held the crown for a staggering 32 years.

While it wasn’t a great month for the Daily Record, it was a none too impressive month for some other titles, including The Sunday Herald, The Herald, The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday – each down between five and eleven per cent.
