Murray Competition Launches in Record for Wimbledon Start

The Daily Record has come up with a very attractive competition to mark the start of Wimbledon this week: a day with Scottish tennis stars, Andy and Jamie Murray.

The Murray Experience, created by RBS, which has sponsored Andy Murray from his days on the junior circuit, includes the opportunity for the contest winner and a friend to train with the players, an insight into their fitness and nutritional regimes, and advice from core members of Team Murray, with coaching tips from the brothers and their mum, coach Judy.

To co-incide with its competition, and today’s start of the competition, the Daily Record carried a two-page special on Murray in which world No. 1, Roger Federer, leaped to the Scot’s defence after former Davis Cup captain John Lloyd questioned Murray's mental strength.

Wrote Lloyd, in the Daily Mail: “Murray has been looking for some months now like a man who would rather be in a dentist’s chair than on a tennis court. His body language and demeanour has been awful…. Murray's problem isn't technical; sure, he can make improvements but that is not where the real fault lies. It's in his mind.”

Murray begins his bid for the Wimbledon title tomorrow, against the Czech, Jan Hajek, the world No.80.
