NUJ Staging Glasgow Lobby in Bid to Prevent Deportation of Member

Members of the National Union of Journalists are being asked to attend a lobby in Glasgow city centre on Monday, in a bid to prevent a fellow member from being deported to Cameroon.

With the support of the union, Charles Atangana is fighting deportation to his home country, amid fears for his safety – his family is said to be associated with opposition movement.

He has been in Glasgow for the last six years and has emerged an active member of both his local community and the local branch of the NUJ.

After a High Court hearing went in his favour, a second deportation order was then issued, prompting an appeal by the union to members that they send a letter of protest to their local MSP, MP and MEP.

The lobby is taking place on Monday, at 1pm, at 200 Brand Street, Glasgow.
