Father at centre of son’s half-time dash an Evening News sub-editor

A FATHER who was at the centre of a half-time dash by his footballer son on Saturday was a sports sub-editor at the Edinburgh Evening News newspaper.

Colin Greenhill died on Saturday night – it is reported, at the age of 57, from cancer. It is understood he had been with The Scotsman Publications Ltd for 40 years – latterly at the News, where he championed, among other things, the coverage of youth and amateur football.

It is believed tomorrow’s edition of the paper will be carrying a tribute to him, including quotes recognising his contribution to local football.

Today, The Scottish Sun reports his son – David – leaving Ibrox stadium at half-time on Saturday afternoon, where he was playing for East Stirlingshire, so he could be with his father before his death a few hours later.
