Media Movers: David Sinclair, Damian Bates, etc

WELCOME to Media Movers, tracking some of the moves – including retirements and promotions – in the Scottish media scene…

AND, first, congratulations to David Sinclair, who has joined the communications team in the Judicial Office of the Scottish Courts service.

A former assistant editor at The Herald newspaper, he was head of Communications for Victim Support Scotland for ten years until made redundant from that role in 2016.

Since then, he has provided media and consultancy services to a wide range of clients.

A former president of the National Union of Journalists, Sinclair served as a member of the Scottish Government’s Leveson Inquiry panel into media ethics in Scotland. The panel was chaired by the late Lord McCluskey.

AND congratulations also to Damian Bates.

As noted, here, the now former editor of The Press and Journal newspaper, remains with publishers, DC Thomson, but now as chair of B2B marketing communications agency, Fifth Ring.

As well as being editor of the P&J, he was also editor-in-chief of DC Thomson’s Aberdeen Journals newspaper business.
