Sales gap widens between Sun and Record

THE sales gap between Scotland’s two biggest-selling daily newspapers has widened, by just over 6,000 copies.

Say the February ABCs, the gap – as measured by Average Net Circulation – between sales in Scotland of the Sun and the Record, was 48,118. In January, it was 42,023; in December, it was 39,345; and in November, it was 42,220.

In February, the Scottish Sun’s average daily sale in Scotland was 354,468 (compared to 351,869 in January), as opposed to the Daily Record’s 306,350 (compared to 309,846 in January).

Meanwhile, the average sale in Scotland for the country’s biggest-selling newspaper, the Sunday Mail, was 373,358. In January, it was 378,321; in December, it was 370,558; and in November, it was 375,347.

Average Net Circulation figures include free give-aways. The figures were released a few minutes ago.
