Cover accolade for Big Issue in Scotland Magazine

THE cover from an edition of The Big Issue in Scotland magazine has been chosen as one of the best of last year.

The magazine’s ‘No Home For Heroes’ cover from November has been shortlisted for a Maggie, the UK’s annual awards for the best magazine covers of the year.

Nominated in the Lifestyle category, it means The Big Issue in Scotland is up against household names, FHM, Shortlist, Good Housekeeping and Wallpaper*.

Indeed, the magazine has already had to see off stiff competition, in the long list, from the likes of Cosmopolitan, Red and Vanity Fair to make it into the final five.

Says editor, Paul McNamee: “It’s fantastic recognition for the vision of our creative director, Mark Neil, and the editorial team. It takes a very real and growing problem – homelessness amongst the armed forces – and with a simple and stark look and a confrontational coverline makes an immediate statement.”

The final winners of the awards will be chosen by the public through an online poll.
