Newspaper advertising and branding role for Hopkins at DC Thomson

THE publishers of The Sunday Post newspaper have appointed a new head, responsible for overseeing its newspaper advertising departments.

Says DC Thomson, Mark Hopkins – who has been named ‘head of commercial for newspapers’ – will be also “responsible for developing new products and enterprises to build on the strength of the newspaper brands”.

Hopkins is a former group digital Director for the Press Holdings Media Group, which publishes The Spectator magazine. His post at DC Thomson – which also publishes, amongst other titles, The Courier and the Evening Telegraph – has been newly-created.

Says a statement issued by DC Thomson: “Mark started his career selling advertising for The Western Mail. He spent five years as a senior sales executive and agency group sales manager at the Mirror Group before moving to Express Newspapers where he was successful in a number of roles, including advertising director at The Sunday Express and group commercial controller for The Daily and Sunday Express. More recently, he has worked as a media business consultant.”

The statement also quotes, David Thomson, DC Thomson’s joint managing director (newspapers): “Mark brings with him a wealth of experience to our recently restructured newspaper senior management team. Alongside newspaper editor-in-chief, Donald Martin, Mark will be responsible for building the brand development of all our titles.”
