Tolley appointed new editor at The List

THE List events magazine for Edinburgh and Glasgow has appointed a new editor.

Gail Tolley has been film editor of The List since February this year.

She has written widely for publications including The Independent and Dazed & Confused and is a regular voice on BBC Radio Scotland. She was previously film editor at The Skinny free culture magazine and has programmed film events and seasons for Glasgow Film Festival.

The List was founded in 1985. Tolley succeeds Jonny Ensall, who, as reported on allmediascotland in April, left for Time Out magazine.

Says a statement issued by The List: “[We are] embarking on an ambitious project to expand use of List content on mobiles through delivery of a series of responsive design sites, optimised for a variety of devices and which utilises user location to put high quality listings at your fingertips. Gail will lead the editorial development of these new sites which already include film.list.co.uk and edinburghfestival.list.co.uk.

Tolley is quoted, as saying: “I’m thrilled to be taking up the position of Editor at The List. I’ve long respected the publication’s commitment to top cultural journalism and I’am greatly looking forward to working with the team to take the magazine and digital activities into the future.”

And publisher, Robin Hodge, is further quoted, as saying: “This is an exciting moment in the life of The List and we are delighted to be working with Gail as we expand our horizons geographically. Culture in the widest sense is at the heart of all we do and we will continue to innovate to help our readers find out what’s on and what is recommended.”
