Communications Officer: 14-month appointment with possibility of an extension

NHS Lothian’s Communications team is looking for a talented professional to help deal with the local, national and international media to promote the achievements of our 24,000 workforce.

NHS Lothian is Scotland’s second-largest health board, responsible for the health and wellbeing of more than 800,000 people, so excellent internal and external communications are vital.

You will have the opportunity to carry out media relations, help promote pioneering medical work, plan PR campaigns, provide briefings for Scottish Government Ministers, MSPs and MPs, as well as plan VIP visits. You will also work on our award-winning newspaper for the public and be required to generate and write news stories and features.

This is a superb opportunity for a team player with a ‘can-do’ approach. Ideally you would have a proven communications/PR/media track record of at least one year.

You will need:

* Excellent writing skills

* The ability to produce accurate work to very tight deadlines

* To be a team player who multi-skills and is able to work on their own initiative.
