STV Productions secures another four series of Antiques Road Trip

AN antiques TV programme made by the production arm of STV for the BBC has been commissioned for a further four series.

Currently broadcasting series four of Antiques Road Trip, the BBC has commissioned STV Productions to produce a further 120 of the 45 minute-long episodes, for BBC2.

Says a STV announcement: “The programme pairs Britain’s best-loved antiques experts and sends them on a bargain-hunting road trip across the UK, competing with each other to make the most money buying and selling antiques. The battle of wits, expert knowledge and egos has proven to be a compelling combination, with the series attracting audiences of up to 2.7million.

“The show attracts an average audience of 2.1million viewers and a 13 per cent share, which is 24 per cent higher than the average slot performance.

“Antiques Road Trip has also seen a significant increase in audience share: the audience increased by over 40 per cent over the course of series one, by 30 per cent across series two and by 34 per cent in series three. The fourth series of the programme is currently showing on BBC2, and is proving to be as popular as ever in its 5.15pm slot.”

Paul Tucker will ‘executive produce’ for STV.

The statement quotes, Alan Clements, STV’s director of content, as saying: “This fantastic two-year commission is a massive vote of confidence in STV Productions and the talented team that produce this ratings-busting show. One hundred and twenty episodes really underpins our business going forward and is testimony to the company’s decision to focus on content creation.”
