BEGINS Celtic Music Radio: “Glasgow-based Celtic Music Radio is promising a ‘festival of music’ as it prepares to switch over from 1530 AM/medium wave to 95.0 FM transmission on Tuesday July 1 with a hope that the move to the waveband of choice will be a boost to its audience and further improve services as a result.

“On air since January 2008 on 1530AM in the Glasgow area, Celtic Music Radio prides itself as a station with a mission to support new musical talent singers and songwriters and to be a strong voice for contemporary and traditional Scottish music, arts and culture.”

STARTING Monday and taking place every day next week, a teenager is to provide the Thought for the Day on BBC Radio Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland news programme.

Says the BBC, this is the first time the GMS slot has been given over to young people, the initiative part of a wider engagement with young people called Generation 2014.

THE deadline is fast approaching to purchase ‘early bird’, discounted tickets to an annual magazines festival taking place in Scotland.

Magfest is taking place on September 5 and the ‘early bird ‘ offer ends on Monday.

THE Edinburgh-based comms agency, The Leith Agency, was among the winners last night at an annual awards ceremony celebrating the best of healthcare advertising.

The event – hosted by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising – saw Leith take the Best Use of Copywriting title, for its ‘Poo Song’ Bowel cancer campaign on behalf of the Scottish Government.

The Leith Agency was also awarded silver in the category, Consumer – UK Integrated Campaign, for its Detect Cancer Early Campaign, again for the Scottish Government.

And its ‘Poo Song’ was awarded silver, in the category, Consumer – Film – Individual.

Meanwhile, a bronze – in the category, Healthcare Professional – Film – Individual – went to ‘Just the Job Animation’, for NHS Education for Scotland, by The Gate Worldwide (which has an office in Edinburgh).

CONGRATULATIONS to East Lothian community radio station, the Haddington-based East Coast FM.

It has been named among the latest recipients of grant funding awarded by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom.

It has been awarded £15,000 for a ‘fundraising and partnership administrator’.
