Factual programming head in Scotland for Shed?

A Scotland-based head of factual programming is expected to be made soon by the makers of TV programmes Who Do You Think You Are?, Supernanny, Waterloo Road and Footballer’s Wives.

Says today’s Scotsman newspaper, Shed Media’s chief executive was in Glasgow last week and is quoted believing he has found the right person for the post.

Nick Southgate was speaking as the company announcd an increase in its profits. He is reported, saying: “I would also like to bring factual (programming] up to Scotland. I was up in Glasgow on Friday and think I have found the right guy to run it. We will be announcing it shortly.”

One of its productions – Garrow’s Law, a four-part drama for BBC One, which is set around London’s law courts in the 1800s – was filmed in Scotland, with Southgate saying it showed Shed’s ambition in Scotland.

Shed Media was set up by Scot, Eileen Gallagher, who was chief executive until last year, whereupon she took up a more creative role, as head of a subsidiary, Shed Productions.
