Fulton’s film helps secure STV work experience placement

A STUDENT of multimedia journalism has secured herself a placement at STV after winning a competition aiming to raise the profile of work experience.

Rachael Fulton, who is studying for a MA at Glasgow Caledonian University, was named winner of Real WoRLD employability scheme, run by the university.

She was chosen following a film she made about two fellow students, studying event management, and who have set up their own company.

STV news anchor, John MacKay, was on hand to present the prize to Rachael.

Competitors were tasked with interviewing fellow GCU students from all subject areas who have improved their employability skills through real-life work experience, be it placements or internships, international exchanges or volunteering. They then told their stories in a print article, a radio or video package or an on-line slide show.

Also winning prizes were Craig Telfer, Louise Douglas, Antony Bushfield and Harriet Brace. They each won a cash prize – as did Fulton – plus an internship with one of the employers involved in the competition, including the Daily Record and the press offices of the Scottish Funding Council and British Transport Police.
