Media release: Mussel Inn Glasgow celebrates tenth anniversary with oysters this St Valentine’s weekend

AWARD-winning Scottish seafood restaurant, Mussel Inn, is celebrating its tenth anniversary in Glasgow with oysters this Valentine’s weekend.

Matt Johansson, food and beverage manager at Mussel Inn, said: “Oysters have always been linked with love – so what better way to celebrate St Valentines Weekend (and our tenth anniversary) than with oysters on our specials menu?

“According to Greek myth, Aphrodite, the goddess of love, sprang forth from the sea on an oyster shell and gave birth to Eros, which is where word ‘aphrodisiac’ derives, and legendary lover Casanova always started a meal by eating 12 dozen oysters.

“And given that Americans advise us to ‘eat oysters and love longer’, we’re sure that that our oysters will prove particularly popular this Valentines weekend!”

Having opened in Hope Street in February 2001, Mussel Inn has established itself as a firm favourite with fans of seafood over the last decade. Indeed, its chilled oysters, served natural or with shallot and red wine vinaigrette, or grilled oysters with gruyere cheese and bacon, are amongst the most popular dishes on its mouth-watering menu.

“Carefully nurtured in the sea lochs of the Scottish west coast, our hand selected and sustainably cultivated oysters grow more slowly then those from warmer waters, providing a richness and depth of taste that we believe is unique,” said Johansson.

Located at 157 Hope Street, in the heart of the city centre and just a five-minute walk from Glasgow Central Station, the award-winning Mussel Inn is renowned for its passion for its offering of delicious locally sourced fresh seafood, providing excellent value for money and a quick and friendly service.
