TWO North-east photographers will showcase some of the finest food produce in Scotland by hosting an exhibition of award winning companies in the heart of Aberdeenshire.
Celebrating ‘The Garioch Larder – From Field to Fork, Kintore based photographer, James Hatter, and James Kelly, of Durno Gallery, have been working for the past few months behind the scenes of some of the most prestigious food production companies in and around Inverurie.
Companies involved include Davidsons Specialist Butchers, Ola Oils, Mackie’s Ice Cream, Downies, J G Ross, Mitchell’s Dairy and Barra Berries.
Although both photographers have been given carte blanche access to all of the companies involved, none of the food producers have yet seen any of the finished products and will see them first-hand at a private showing of the photographic exhibition to be held at J G Ross’ Highclere head office on Thursday, September 13.
Members of the public will be able to see the full exhibition for themselves on Friday, September 14 between 10am and 4pm in the conference room at J G Ross, and the event also coincides perfectly with Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight.
Organiser of the event, Ali Leith, of Stem Public Relations, commented: “The idea to showcase the Garioch Larder came from a casual conversation between myself and James Hatter when we were extolling the virtues of how much wonderful food there is available on our doorsteps in and around Inverurie.
“Many local people take for granted that these fantastic independent food producers are in the area perhaps without appreciating just how lucky they are to have these award-winning shops and businesses right in the heart of their community.
“It is something that the Garioch area should be extremely proud of and, having already had a sneak preview of the photographs, I can confidently say that James and James have done a sterling job of capturing some outstanding images of the huge range of fabulous, locally produced food that the area has to offer.”
