A LEADING Garioch butcher has showcased his award-winning skills at Scotland’s premier agricultural event.
Andrew Peter, of Davidsons Specialist Butchers in Inverurie, was crowned Scottish Young Butcher of the Year at the Meat Skills Championship earlier this year and was invited by Quality Meat Scotland to demonstrate his skills at the recent Royal Highland Show.
The Scotch Butchers Club Meat Skills Scotland Championship is held every second year to search for the most skilled and creative butchers in Scotland.
The competition is supported by the Scotch Butchers Club and organised by Scottish Meat Training.
The demonstration was one of three events compered by Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association’s chief executive, Douglas Scott.
They aimed to enhance public knowledge about cuts of meat and saw Andrew work with a Scotch Beef Rib Roast and a leg of Scotch Lamb.
Commenting on Andrew’s participation in the Royal Highland Show, John Davidson, of Davidsons Specialist Butchers, said: “We are very proud of what Andrew has achieved at such a young age and we are delighted to support him in furthering his career.”
