A LITTLE bit of history was made on Monday, at a golf day laid on for the media by the organisers of forthcoming tournament, the Dunhill Links championship.
Because Martin Allen, the assistant sports editor at Scotland on Sunday, made a hole-in-one at the 126-yard 13th, the first time anyone has aced a hole at the annual event, which seeks to generate media interest in the Dunhill tournament, which will be held at Kingsbarns, St Andrews Old Course and Carnoustie later in the year.
Dunhill and Kingsbarns put together a special prize, including a bottle of champagne and a signed print of the hole certifying Martin’s achievement.
The overall competition was won by Matthew Lindsay, of the Evening Times.
