Darroch departing for corporate freelancing

A SUNDAY Herald business writer ‘signs off’ this week after six years covering corporate profiles for the newspaper.

Valerie Darroch is leaving to freelance in corporate writing and bespoke strategic media advice.

Already, she has secured a number of clients, including Scottish Equity Partners, one of the UK’s leading venture capital firms. Annual reports will be a speciality.

Her new venture follows a 21-year career in business journalism in London and in Scotland. She was formerly chief correspondent in Reuters’ London bureau, in charge of all UK corporate news and the largest single reporting team in Europe.

She also worked in financial television for Reuters. She has written extensively for business magazines and was also formerly deputy business editor of Scotland on Sunday.
