Journalists Invited to Apply for Travel Scholarship

Journalists are being invited to apply for a scholarship to allow them to, say the organisers, “study the role of English-language media in non English-speaking European countries”.

But, with a deadline of Friday for entries to be submitted, candidates will need to be quick off the mark, to pen a proposal as to why they should be receive the scholarship, worth £2500, officially called the Thyne Travel Scholarship and being administered by the English-Speaking Union Scotland.

The scholarship is open to (a) journalists who have a particular interest in similarities and differences between Scottish and other European countries’ media and (b) educators who have a particular interest in the development of media studies.

Says the ESUS: “To apply for the grant, candidates need to write a proposal saying where they would go and what they would study, and what they would do with the information they have found.”
